Born in Cardiff I developed a passion for painting with many hours painting through my formative years with two of my aunts who were keen landscape artists, painting in oils. I continued to paint, self taught into my 30s while progressing a career from a trainee draughtsperson to a professional civil engineer in senior management positions. This gave me an eye for detail while finding time to relax and paint became increasingly difficult, my determination to paint full-time remained a persistent dream.
Having moved to Pembrokeshire in 2023 with its amazing coastline and wildlife – leaving my engineering career firmly in the past – I have taken up my brushes again to see where they may take me. The varied landscape, amazing light and changing moods of the weather in Pembrokeshire, present a wealth of inspiration for my recent work.
My preferred media for landscape or wildlife works is watercolour, with the occasional diversion into chalk and oil pastels, I also enjoy producing pencil portraits.
