Caroline McLachlan

I was born in Goodwick and draw most of my artistic inspiration from the land and seascapes of Pembrokeshire. Drawing and painting have always been a very important part of my life, beginning with drawing submarines and warships in the Mersey when I was about four years old.

When I left school, I attended the Laird School of Art in Birkenhead before studying singing for five years at the Royal Academy of Music. In 1966 I married a doctor and had two sons and life was too busy to devote much time to art. When the boys grew up I was able to do an Open College of Art course, which I found very enjoyable and stimulating. Since then I have been lucky enough to do painting courses with a variety of wonderful teachers, including Ken Howard, Lucy Willis and Tom Coates, and more recently with David Tress. All these artists have been hugely influential and encouraging to me.

I have exhibited at The Mall Galleries, R.B.S.A. and more recently at The Old Chapel Gallery in Pembridge, The Gallery yr Oriel at Newport and Workshop Wales.
