Tom Learmonth

Tom has been taking photographs since the age of ten. Born in Liverpool in 1955, he grew up in Liverpool, India, Australia, North Wales and Bedfordshire. He studied on the first B.A. in Photographic Arts at the Polytechnic of Central London (now University of Westminster).

He became a documentary photographer working for aid charities, War on Want and Christian Aid and freelancing. He ran community photography programmes in East London.

Tom moved to West Wales in the later eighties and ran residential photography courses. He owned Emrys Art Supplies for many years. He has always found landscape, particularly Welsh landscape, a literal bedrock.
